Scan Delivery 

You can request a chapter scan for books, or "scan and send” for articles from our print collection. Click the book or journal title to see these options. 

Beyond McMaster 

The Internet Archive (click "Books" in the header) and its Open Library provide access to digitized books, many of which can be "borrowed" for up to 14 days. Create a free Internet Archive account to borrow.

Google Scholar

Connect Google Scholar to McMaster resources with these one-time steps to set your Library Links. GetIt@Mac will then lead you to our fulltext.

Students can now access course readings electronically through Avenue to Learn. Read more about our new eReserves system. 
Print reserves at Mills and Thode are also available. 

Interlibrary loans
At this time, InterLibrary Loans will continue for scans of chapters or journal articles.
Borrowing and loaning physical items is open.

Scan a Chapter or Journal Article
Sign in to Omni > locate the item of interest in Omni > click on the title to view the full record > go to the Get it section in the full record > select Digitization (if available/eligible) > complete and send the request form 

Library Accessibility Services 
For students with an accommodation, Library Accessibility Services provides support through alternate format textbooks, library materials, custom courseware, lecture material, class readings, video captioning, audio transcripts and Echo 360 lecture capture captions.

Workshops 

Teaching and Learning Librarians host a series of online workshops on library and research skills to assist students in the Fall term. Find and register for workshops from the Library Events page. 

Research Consultations, Guides, and Videos for Assignment Help 

Library Teaching and Learning offers research consultations and virtual drop-in office hours for students via phone, email, Teams, Zoom or Skype.

While you are waiting for your consultation, you can browse LibGuides to find a research guide to help with your research skills, and course-specific guides to help you with relevant resources and services that are course specific.

Maps

The Lloyd Reeds Map Collection is a valuable resource to students for maps and geographical collections. Through digitization efforts and consortia agreements, access to many map collections are available online. 

High resolution, scanned images of the Library’s historical and rare maps, including historical research resources of Hamilton, are available for non-commercial purposes through the Digital Archive.

Data and GIS Services

Data and GIS Services

The Library's Data and GIS Services provides resources to students in the areas of data and statistics, Research Data Management (RDM), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and geospatial data. Many of these data collections are available online through various portals. 

Library Data Service 

The Library Data Service provides access, consultation, and training for statistical and research data products and specialized software.  

Research Data Management (RDM)

The Library’s Research Data Management service supports the data management needs of McMaster’s researchers. RDM support staff provide training and consult on data management plans, data storage and backup, data documentation and metadata creation, and data archiving and sharing.

Data Analysis Support Hub (DASH)

The DASH program provides assistance with data and analysis software applications such as Excel, R, Python, and SPSS.

GIS and Geospatial Data 

Student licenses of Esri’s ArcGIS software is available through GIS Services. Help finding and analyzing geospatial data, as well as using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is also available.

Workshop Series

The Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship's Do More With Digital Scholarship workshop series introduces a variety of digital methodologies and tools in an interactive, hands-on learning environment.

The Sherman Centre also facilitates the Software Freedom Workshop Series, which provides instruction to students on software and hardware, as well as various topics of privacy and security on the web.
